Stand with Leading Economists: Get America Back to Work
63 signatures

Leading American economists are coming together to sign this manifesto. The Coffee Party stands with these leaders, and invites you to support them.

The Coffee Party believes that the government and the private sector should work together to create jobs.

Please add your name.

MANIFESTO DEMANDING URGENT ACTION ON UNEMPLOYMENT AND THE FALTERING RECOVERY

The urgent need is for government to boost demand by replacing the lost purchasing power of the unemployed and their families. Addressing deficit reduction without solving the chronic underlying deficiency of demand will prolong the great recession, harm the social cohesion of the country, and continue inflicting unnecessary hardship on millions of Americans.

The surest course to balance the budget over time is to restore a full measure of economic activity.

http://www.change.org/petitions/voters-sign-petition-to-get-the-28th-amendment-to-the-constitution-into-law?share_id=kYfHEoghxR&pe=d2e I posted to our group this link. Help send Congress a message from We the People. This is to petition congress to add the 28th Amendment to limit time served in office is 12 years and no longer. In the 70's people had made an Amendment to allow 18 year olds to have the right to vote. It took less than 3 months and less than 8 days to ratify into law. Please visit Change.org site above and read my petition. Pass it along if you agree or simply delete it if you don't. I believe you will like what you read. Change.org has done many petitions and passed and changed laws to help people. Check it out please. Visit my Face book page to make sure I am who I say I am if you want to check me out first. I recommend it if you have any doubts. Dan Luttrell, Bedford, IN. Thank you for your consideration of my petition. Dan

The party of "NO" has to stop and think about our nation as a whole. They should stop listening to the far right "tea party" people for one thing. Another would also be to vote for the people, not against them. I fear that most of the GOP are just saying no, because they are not the party in power and also shows I believe their racist attitude towards the president. I don't think the Republicans have said no so many times to other presidents in the White House. It's time for them to get together and get jobs back here so we can get to work and move the economy. Without jobs, where do they expect us to pay the taxes that they keep promising to raise?

I do believe that we are going to have to institute some kind of enlightened protectionism. We cannot compete with slave labor, and it is absurd to think that we can become a nation of doctors, lawyers, financiers, computer wizards, engineers, etc. The "working class" has been thrown out into the cold and given fast-food service as their alternative. America no longer manufactures the necessities of life. The global model has not worked. Its success requires the sacrifice of several generations in the developed world, as we wait for the Third World to attain a reasonable standard of living. Protectionism is a dirty word, and no politician dares advocate it, but it is what we need, applied judiciously and wisely. Simply giving people money to spend via a stimulus package will not do the trick. If spent, it will stimulate Chinese manufacturing and American retail, that's all. We need to restore American manufacturing. Bring the jobs home!

The right would have you believe they are true patriots. The right is lead by the establishment who like no better than have a social and economic divide in the country. It serves them to make wages smaller, to import low cost goods and hire people who are not here legally. They play groups against each and offer only weapons of mass distraction. I was a true believer in free trade, countries would produce what they were most efficient at producing, but this was based on fairness, not on laborers exploited or corporations subsidized, or countries having full health care paid by for their governments while ours must pay. That is not a level playing field. The right would have you believe we cannot afford to have a job creation plan. What we can't afford is a tax structure where the rich do not pay their fair share, where the highest tax rates have declined from 92% during Eisenhower to what they pay now. Our tax rate is 38th in the world. Create jobs now or face the consequences in the future. I have seen what it is like to live in a developing country. You do not want that here!

We need to change the laws concerning the influence of money and morals, because there are a lot of soulless people who are influenced by the wrong things making the decisions for all of the people but not representing the majority, THIS MUST STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Opposed to the current republican idea that this nations unemployed are lazy or drug addicted, the economic climate has created a perfect storm of unprecedented unemployment rates. These people are victims of a flawed ideology that shifted jobs overseas and left our workforce unable to compete with lower paid workers elsewhere. When the "greening of America" is implemented with vigor the jobs will begin to come back. Corporations should be encouraged to research in order to provide green products for consumers. I look for companies that use innovative technology to reduce carbon emissions. The government should encourage the private sector to do more in that direction.

Let's face it--the current recession is the result of 40 years of cutting real wages for workers and exporting manufacturing jobs, not just of speculation in the last few years! It's time to do a lot more about this. We have to return to the now-radical idea of actually taxing the rich, instead of only the middle class and the poor.

how about this thot: sending jobs overseas while maintaining the corprate structure is not stategic. down right dumb, as you are dependent on the quality, safety and supply of out of country providers. as of this minute China could take away our tupperware and we would collapse as a nation. American jobs would reignite the country's real economic engine, the middle class and stop the drip, drip, drip of Amererica's decline.

We must call the leading voices together to stand for the people and for common sense, and to protect the economic vitality of our country. We cannot afford to wage two wars and engage in "nation building" abroad, while neglecting our own country and our ecological and economic infrastructure.
