Stop the feeding frenzy and report on what matters
Dear Media,
Reading the news today, you'd think that the plans to build a "mosque at ground zero" -- which is not really a mosque but a community center and it is not at ground zero but two blocks away in a busy area of lower Manhattan -- is the biggest threat to our nation. There is hardly any mention of our economic crisis or joblessness.
The truth is: Long-term unemployment is another term for POVERTY. Millions of Americans are suddenly living in or on the verge of poverty and homelessness. How are we dealing with this problem?
Please stop the dangerous media feeding frenzy -- fueled by politicians looking for wedge issues -- over the "mosque" and report on what really matters for our future. There are rapid changes occurring in America and around the world.
This mosque controversy is not going to affect our future in the way national and global poverty is.
