| This country was founded by all the people, not just the aristocracy. George Washington and the founding fathers understood that they had a responsibility to all the people, not just the wealthy ruling class. How could we have gotten so far from that understanding? The Constitution does not say that the pursuit of business and security are the only things that matter....it says the "general welfare" is equally important. How did that get bypassed?
Please understand that money in the hands of a few has never brought prosperity to America or anywhere else. Money in the hands of the poor gets spent right away and puts a positive spiral into play. People buy goods and other necessities, they don't put the money into the bank and sit on it. We are in danger of doing all over again the very stupid things we did in the late 1920's and early 30's and repeating the same mistakes that brought us the Great Depression. Do we really NEED to make the same mistakes TWICE? Put people to work....and until you do, give them benefits so they can at least live and eat. |
