| I am 48 years old and live close to Boston. I have been trying for five years to get Congress to hold hearing on Child sexual abuse by clergy and religious institutions. All religons.
I am a survivor of a clergy by a catholi priest, who was also heavily involved with the Boy Scouts, and also the assitant Scout Master. Well over a million children and vunderable adults have been sexual abused in this country alone. If other countrys cant investigate this issue why can't the US.
I have got a reguest for heaing by my congressman S. Lynch of MA. But it was during the Bush administration and I did not even recieve an aknowlegement of the reguest!
Clergy abuse is still happening and this sick practice is harming our society as a whole. Tax money is being used to treat thousands of victims. Money given to churches is used to pay for the pentions for abusers as well as thier healthcare. Our cjildren are not save because we do not know where these pedophiles live. Most abuser sexually abuse 100 children before they are caught.
One in six girls and one in four boys are abused by the time they are eighteen. There is also all the sexual preditors who are not, or no longer in religious intentions. The Congress needs to changes the laws so the Justice Department can inforce the new laws.
I have been to Sen. Scotts Brown office in MA and tried to get him to do someting. But have recieved no responce back, even thought they said they would get back to us.
If we do not keep this issue front and center we will lose generation of children whose constitional rights are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness! Belive me there is no longer happiness for which abused children can even believe in. They can only feel as if God just f**ked them. We lose many of these children to booze, drugs and suicide.
Sorry to get on my soapbox but this is what I have been doing for the last nineteen years. I went to Boston College Highschool and completed two years at Suffolk University in Boston. Then my life took a wretched downward spiral out of control. I am good at taking care of others while ignoring my own needs. I am a good public speaker. I also love to write and read.
We are quickly approaching the 10th Anniversary of the "clergy abuse crisis" in Boston. We where the spark that started the worldwide inferno. How about radio show talking about the history of the abuse in religious institutions and what is the future of vitims rights.
