Losing civility in our decision making process is a serious problem, along with losing rationality and a respect for basic scientific premises. Not only are our politicians not respecting a forward look at what is good for the country in the long run, businesses go ahead without safety measures in place. No one in favor of using nuclear power has told me what will be done with the nuclear waste. No one has told me why we continue using plastics and filling our oceans with them. We do not get to have a civil or productive discussion about these issues as long as we keep saying no to solving problems and waste time name calling.
