| Yes, negative campaigning works -- in the short term. But like most short-term strategies, it comes at terrible cost -- to our abilities to communicate with each other, to our abilities to work together, to our abilities to solve the serious problems facing our nation Worse, it turns many voters off, discourages them from voting, and thereby weakens our democracy. All the mud-slinging has to stop. |
